This project will renovate the existing baseball field to serve as a second site for MPBS baseball games and an alternate site for MHS baseball practice. Specifically, MPBS is (1) renovating the storage shed, (2) removing derelict concession stand, (3) installing dugout benches and concrete bases, (4) retrofiting cyclone fencing on backstop, sidelines, dugouts, and (5) amending the dirt infield. This project will focus on developing the minimum fields necessary for practices and games, and initiate development of permanent stadiums to meet the long-term needs of High School teams, advanced youth leagues, and adult leagues. MPBS has permitted Wainwright field on CSUMB to serve as home field for MHS girls softball until a new stadium is built at MHS, and that MPBS softball would utilize the field on free days. Specifically, MPBS is (1) utilizing volunteers for fixing squirrel holes, dragging dirt infield, resetting bases and base pegs, (2) purchasing and installing fencing piping for increased safety and aesthetics of field, and (4) purchasing joint use storage container at Wainwright field for field prep and training equipment. Expected completion Spring 2009.
This project will renovate the existing baseball complex to allow MPBS baseball games for players older than 15 years and an alternate site for MHS baseball practice, by extending the backstop and adding permanent sideline fencing. Plans for the lower fields are to relocate two backstops to Marina Del Mar Elementary School, add a dirt infield for softball at an existing backstop, and renovate the outfield to allow for soccer. Completed April 2009.
Additional development plans for the complex are to renovate the stadium seating, enclose the dugouts, add permanent homerun fencing, and to create an indoor baseball/softball training center. Expected completion Spring 2011.
