Partnerships

MPBS has developed extensive partnerships with local organizations in order to enhance the playing experiences of our youth baseball and softball players, as well as to support local baseball and softball activities outside of our organization.  It is through these partnerships that MPBS continues to develop innovative training programs and modern baseball and softball facilities.
  • Marina High School Mariner Athletics

A critical element of MPBS development is the support of the burgeoning baseball and softball programs at Marina High School (MHS).  It is the goal of the MPBS Board of Directors to use the expertise and resources of our organization to ensure that quality baseball and softball programs develop at MHS.  To this end, we have been working with MHS Principal John Schilling to help with the development of coaching programs at MHS, and with the support of the City of Marina and CSUMB, we have helped to secure safe, high quality practice and game fields for MHS to utilize as new fields are developed on site at the high school.  We look forward to watching the MHS programs develop within the MTAL high school league and to the eventual success of our MPBS players as the move to the high school level.  GO MARINERS!!!

    !!Marina High School Softball update!!

Marina High School has announced that Mike Mast will become the head coach of MHS varsity softball.  We are excited the the MHS is under strong local leadership and MPBS is working closely with MHS athletics to ensure that the MHS softball program is a success.  As part of this commitment, MPBS has recently secured Schoonover Field on the CSUMB campus to serve as the home field for MHS softball, and we will be working hard to get this field in shape before training starts.  Any persons interested in volunteering their time to work on this field should contact the MPBS President Mike Graham.  We look forward to making similar announcements concerning the MHS baseball program.

  • CSUMB Otter Athletics

MPBS is working with CSUMB to bring quality training and learning experiences to all of our baseball and softball players.  Through a partnership with the CSUMB baseball and softball programs, our youth are learning first hand what the college experience is about, interacting with the scholar athletes of our neighboring university, and receiving dedicated instruction in pitching, throwing, batting, fielding, and teamwork.  Coupled with "player appearances" by CSUMB athletes at MPBS games and Marina Pony day at CSUMB baseball/softball home games, these free clinics help to develop a personal connection between the youth of Marina and the University programs, which is vital to the social, economic, and athletic health of our community.

  • Trosky Baseball School

MPBS continues to work with Nate Trosky to bring high quality baseball training programs to our boys and girls.  MPBS provides the Trosky clinics free to all MPBS baseball and softball players registered at the time of the clinic, thus giving parents another reason to register their children early.  This year we will have two Trosky clinics, one for batting (Jan 10) and one for fielding/throwing (Jan 31), prior to MPBS tryouts.

  • City of Marina Recreation and Cultural Services

The Recreation and Cultural Services department of the City of Marina has long been in partnership with MPBS to support youth sports in the City.  In 2007, MPBS and City of Marina signed a formal agreement outlining the MPBS use of City fields and recreation equipment, and the joint use of MPBS resources.  This partnership, under the guidance of RCS Director Terry Siegrist, is one of the primary reasons why MPBS can provide quality baseball and softball experiences at an affordable cost, and represents a strong linkage between our players, parents, volunteers, and the local community.
