It is important that parents support their children and the League in a constructive way. Baseball and softball are exciting sports, and ones in which all children have the opportunity for rewarding experience. Healthy philosophies and attitudes of MPBS parents go a long way in ensuring a successful season. Please remember that all of us are role models for ALL children in MPBS.
It is important that parents:
• Attempt to understand and be informed of the playing rules.
• Appreciate a good play no matter who makes it.
• Show compassion for any injured player.
• Avoid heckling, jeering or distracting players.
• Do not use profane and obnoxious language and behavior.
• Respect the judgment and strategy of the managers and coaches.
• Avoid criticizing players or coaches.
• Censure those whose behavior is unbecoming.
• Do not force children to participate; they are not playing to satisfy your ambitions.
• Encourage their child to play by the rules.
• Teach their child the benefits of effort and teamwork.
• Never ridicule or shout at children for making a mistake.
• Applaud good play by members of both teams.
• Don't publicly question any official's decisions or doubt their honesty.
• Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from the game.
• Set an example by being friendly to the parents of the opposition.
• Emphasize enjoyment and fun.
• Show respect for their team's opponents. Without them there would be no game.
• Relax and enjoy the game.
It is important to note that the MPBS Constitution and By-laws includes a “zero-tolerance” policy that excludes from League activities any Board Member, Manager, Coach, Team Parent, Parent, Player, Volunteer, and Spectator associated with Marina Pony Baseball/Softball League activities that is involved in any physical or verbal altercation, misappropriation of league funds, or use of violent, abusive, or foul actions/language at league activities. Violators will be immediately removed from premises utilized by MPBS pending review of the MPBS Executive Committee.
